Halloween

I’m taking an informal poll here. I wanna know … Do you decorate for Halloween? Either inside or outside or both.

I decided to put up my Halloween decorations this afternoon. I don’t have a lot of stuff, but then again, I only have a small apartment. I’ve got pics of my decorations in the extended entry.

Indian summer

It’s just beautiful outside today. Right now, it’s 80°F out. It’s a bit windy too, but not too bad. I’m not gonna complain considering it got down to 22°F overnite earlier this week. And we’re supposed to stay in the 70s for the rest of the week and through the weekend. Maybe I should get outta town this weekend. Go out driving looking at the fall colors or go to Ma and Pa’s (I know that’s what Mom would want me to do … LOL). Whatever I do, it needs to be free or cost very little money. My raise won’t show up ’til my next paycheck, so funds are still a bit low. Whatever I do, I need to take advantage of this gorgeous weather.

By the way … does anyone know where the term “Indian summer” originated? I’m curious as to why a warm period during the fall or spring is called that.

Icebox

You’d never know how gorgeous it was outside today from sitting in our office. It got into the 70s outside, but it was an icebox in our office. Not quite as bad as yesterday morning, but still frickin’ cold. I’ve been wearing my jacket for most of the day for the past couple of weeks. Tomorrow I’m gonna take my sweatshirt and leave it there.

You’d think that if you owned a building in North Dakota, you’d turn the heat on when it was in the 20s overnite. The heat wasn’t even on Monday morning. It came on about mid-morning. I could smell the heat … isn’t that sad … LOL. I hope it doesn’t stay that cold all winter. Its no fun working when you’re freezing your ass off. I might have to start wearing long johns under my jeans so I’m not so cold. I really hope it doesn’t come to that.

C is for cookie

I’m in baking mode today. I’ve been craving some chocolate chunk macadamia nut cookies for a while now. I thought I’d try to make ‘em instead of buying them. So I bought the chips and nuts today. I had everything else I needed. I used the Toll House recipe. I used white chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, and macadamia nuts. And DAMN are these cookies good. If I’m not careful, I’ll end up eating all of ‘em today. But I have to resist the urge to eat ‘em all. But I HAVE to have just one more. At least ’til tonite … G-razz3

Here’s a pic of them (just for you Lisa). They taste better than they look in the pic.

Becky-sicle

I’m resisting the urge to turn on my heat tonite. Right now it’s 40°F out with a NW wind at 13 mph and a 33° windchill. The overnite low is forecast to be around 22°. But I’m not gonna turn on my heat. I’m probably gonna regret that decision. But I’m gonna throw on an extra blanket tonite. Hopefully that’ll be enough. And if not, I can always get up and turn the heat on (after I move stuff from leaning against the heaters and dust ‘em off). It’s too early to turn the heat on. But then again, it is October now. And this is North Dakota. But I’m still gonna resist the urge. Hopefully I don’t turn to ice overnite.
