Early dismissal
The one thing I miss from being in school (the only thing actually … LOL) is the fact that they sometimes started late or dismissed early during the winter because of the weather. And sometimes they closed altogether. I wish work was like that. 
Actually … it was like that today. They let us leave at 4pm. That’s the second time this winter they’ve done that. That’s nice.
WHY did they let us leave early … we’re under a blizzard warning ’til 9am Saturday morning. I’m not sure how much it’s snowed since this morning … but there’s a hell of a lot of snow on the streets and in the parking lots. There were a good few inches on my car that I had to brush off before I could leave.
Driving in town wasn’t so bad … as long as you went slow. It was a bit slippery. But I made it home without incident. Once I got home … that’s another story …
I got my garage door open no problem (it’s an automatic opener one). I shoveled some of the snow away from the door and hit the button to close it. It closed fine. But the damn thing wouldn’t stay shut. 
I shoveled as much crap away from the doorway as I could. I’ve got a crappy plastic shovel and the only stuff I could see that was in the way was ice. Some cussing ensued … LOL. A guy who lives in the building saw I was having trouble and came over to try to help. He had had the same trouble himself. He suggested holding or pushing the door down when it got down, but that didn’t help. He finally suggested using the key to close it and then once the door was down all the way, turn the key again to keep it shut. It worked … 
Thank goodness he came over to help. Who knows how long I would have been out there. I’m sure he got a good chuckle watching me before he came over to help. He was cute too. I wonder if he’s single …
