How much do I take home?
This link is more for future reference for me than anything else. But it might be able to help some other people too.
I’ve been trying to make a decision for work. We have the option to stay on hourly wages or move to salary. The main reason for this is because of how flex time is done. On salary, you can ‘bank’ the flex time to use at any time. On hourly, you have to use the flex time the same week that you accrue it.
I don’t stay late very often, so I don’t utilize flex time that often. So it doesn’t really bother me if we stay at hourly. But I’m betting that the majority vote will be to move to salary. So … I’m trying to make an informed decision. Trying to determine how much I’m gonna get screwed over moving to salary … LOL.
I’m starting to think that no matter which way we go, I’m gonna need to get a second job. I’m currently making the most money that I ever have, but I’m still barely scraping by. Insurance is going up and we have to pay for part of the parking …
It would be nice to know exactly how much my paycheck is going to be every time I get one. But the fact that I’ll be working more hours than I’m getting paid for some pay periods … I just don’t know if I can handle that. Yeah … there are some pay periods where I’ll be paid for more than hours than I work. And overall, the net gain for the year is more than the net loss. But there are some months were I could lose about $20 (4 months of the year) or about $95 (3 months of the year) total.
Time to go pour over my budget some more. I hate making decisions like this … especially since it deals with money.
