Glad I’ve got a garage

When I went to work this morning, I noticed a sign on the window by the door. Someone is offering a reward for info about vandalism done to their truck Saturday nite. I guess someone drilled a hole in their gas tank to steal gas. shock I know that gas prices keep rising (it’s $2.74/gal as of tonite when I drove past the gas station I usually go to), but COME ON!! Vandalizing someone else’s vehicle so you can put some gas in your tank. Maybe someone should let our ‘president’ know that. Then maybe he’ll stop worrying so damn much about foreign affairs and do something about issues on his own soil (sorry … got political there for a minute … I try to avoid politics. I’ll stop now before the secret service comes ’round to get me for saying something ‘not nice’ about our ‘president’ … lol).

I am just glad that I have a garage. Not that I’ve got much gas in my tank right now anyways … I’m hoping it’ll last ’til Friday when I get paid.

New Look

I’ve finally finalized the design I want to use with my site. I’ve put it up on my main site already tonite. I still need to add it to the ShoutOuts page and the Photo Gallery as well as this blog. The photo gallery will be more involved since I’m now using version 2 of Gallery. And the changes to this blog will be a bit as well. I plan on upgrading to the newest version of WP. I’m not gonna bother getting this version to use the new design and then turn around and replace it with the new version. This design will stay ’til I get around to getting the new version up here.

Changes abound

Tonite I’m working on upgrading my photo gallery. I use the Gallery software package. My site uses version 1.4 and the AvalancheCountry site uses version 1.5. I’m going to upgrade it to version 2. Hopefully that will get rid of the issues I’m having with the random photo script. My web host sure isn’t very helpful in figuring out the problem. They’ve completely ignored my email about it … and I sent that a week ago. I made no changes, but it just suddenly stopped working. censored

After I get those changes all up and running, I’m going to upgrade my WordPress install too. I wanna have the latest and greatest stuff for my site. My design will be going through an overhaul too. I’ve already got that figure out … just have to implement it.

Well … I’d better get to it. Gallery won’t upgrade itself … LOL.

Moldy eyes

I heard something on the radio this morning that greatly concerned me. They were talking about the fact that Bausch & Lomb was recalling some of its solutions from store shelves.

New Health Alert Over Contact Lens Solution
Rare Fungal Infection Seen in Increasing Numbers in Past Year, Most Infected Wore Contacts

April 10, 2006 - Bausch & Lomb voluntarily suspended shipments of its ReNu MoistureLoc brand contact lens solution as the federal Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continue to investigate a rare fungal outbreak among contact lens users.

The decision was made after a preliminary investigation found that ReNu was used by many of those known so far to be infected, FDA officials said in a press conference Monday evening.

“The data … associates the use of certain products with some of these cases in a fairly dramatic fashion,” said Dr. Daniel G. Schultz, director of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health.

Contact lens solution is used by all contact lens wearers to rinse and store their lenses when they are not wearing them. Bausch & Lomb is one of the largest manufacturers of both brand-name and generic solutions.

I have been using Bausch & Lomb ever since I first got my contacts. And which one is in my bathroom … the MoistureLoc one. shock doh The bottle is almost empty too. I was planning on getting some more this weekend (since I get paid on Thursday). I think I’ll be checking out a different brand … just to be safe. I’m gonna do some more searching online to see what I can find. My sister sent me the link to the article I posted above.

Even if it’s only just a slight chance that there are problems with the Bausch & Lomb products, that’s not a chance I’m willing to take. I already have eye allergies. I don’t wanna end up going blind. If I run across any other articles that have more info, I’ll post ‘em.

Crank it up

For the first time since last fall, I drove home from work today with my windows rolled down (not all the way, but down a couple of inches) and the radio cranked up (or at least loud enough for me). G-smile

It’s 46° out right now, and the sun is out. It actually feels like spring. It’s almost perfect … just a little too windy for me.

It’s weather like this that makes me wish I had a grill. I gotta check the Fleet Farm ad to see if they’ve got any on sale crossfingers Now that I have a balcony, I can actually HAVE a grill. I can’t wait … grilled burgers and chicken breast. Mmmmm … drool2

K … time for me to stop talking about food. I’m already hungry. I’d better go find something to eat.
