Found the culprit

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been having issues with my eyes. They’ve been REALLY bloodshot. Now … they’re normally a little bloodshot, not sure why, but they’ve always been that way. But for the past couple of weeks, they’ve been REALLY bad. Mainly right around the iris they’ve been really red. There were a few days where I couldn’t even wear my contacts.

I thought that the problem was either allergies or the contact solution I was using. I changed my contact solution after the issue that Bausch & Lomb had with the solution I used to use.

Thursday nite they were so bad that I actually decided that I needed to call and make an appointment with my eye doctor. I had been wearing my contacts for part of the day, but took them out in the afternoon. My eyes were really red and I even got a headache that wouldn’t go away. I was starting to freak out a little.

I called my eye doctor yesterday, but the earliest I could get in is Wednesday afternoon. So … I decided to go get some different contact solution. I went back to Bausch & Lomb … but not the kind they pulled off the shelves (obviously). I didn’t wear my contacts at all yesterday. They seemed pretty good. I had gotten some rewetting drops as well, and I was using those every now and then when my eyes felt dry. Seemed to help.

This morning I put in my contacts … a new pair too. I threw away my old pair since they had been in that other contact solution. I have had no issues with my eyes at all today. That makes be believe that it WAS the contact solution. There must be something in that brand that my eyes just don’t like.

I’ll have to see how my eyes are tomorrow and Monday. If they’re still okay, then I’m going to cancel my appointment. Hopefully that’ll be the case. It’ll save me some money.

Tried to gyp me

I took my change to the bank this morning to get it converted to cash. I counted it before I left … putting it in piles of $1. I counted exactly $8.50.

However, when I took it to the bank, when she came back from the counting machine thingy, she said there was only $6.39. Ummm … ’scuse me. NO! I counted $8.50 not more than 15 minutes ago!! I told her that I had counted it before coming to the bank and that I had counted $8.50. That’s what I got too. I think she was having issues with the machine or something. I know she called one of the other workers over to it with her. Otherwise, I don’t think she would have given me the $8.50.

It just pisses me off that they tried to screw me over. I counted accurately. That’s why I put things in piles of $1. So I could recount it easily. I put the pennies in piles of 25¢. I had 5 piles of all dimes, 1 pile of dimes and nickels, 1 pile of all nickels, 6 piles of pennies, and another pile of 20 pennies and 1 nickel. At least I got what was due to me.

To let you know

I past-dated a couple of posts down below … Best Funnel Cake EVER and Playing Catch-Up … on June 12th. I had to write them down on paper … that’s right … with a pen on paper … since my website wasn’t working for me. But I still wanted to post them at the time I had written them. So I thought I would alert you to them in case you missed ‘em.

If you can read this …

… then my domain has finally propagated! dancin party

You see … I finally got fed up with my prior web host. As I mentioned here, things happened. Things that really ticked me off. And their poor support only added to things. It was the last straw.

My sites are now hosted on HostGator.com. Mace suggested it to me. He used to have the same host I did … and his sites were on the same server as mine. He got fed up too and switched. He passed along a coupon code too. Thanks again Mace. G-smile

As I type this post, I’m still (*patiently … maybe*) waiting for the DNS changes to propagate. But I’m still able to get here and post this. At least then you’ll know what’s up as soon as everything is switched.

I’m already really liking this host. They responded to my pre-sale questions email in about an hour. I sent another with additional questions, and about another hour later, I had another response. MUCH better support response time than the old host. And HostGator has 24/7 support. I’m not sure WHAT the other one has. It’s definitely NOT 24/7 … LOL.

I am paying close to twice what I was before (but it’s still only $10), but I went from having 300mb of web space to having 5gb of web space. That’s quite an upgrade. And the better support is DEFINITELY worth it.

And since I’ve got next week off (woohoo! VACATION!!), I’ll try to work on things. I really want to upgrade this blog to the newest version. But I want to make sure everything is working first. Mainly the layout.

Ch-ch-changes

Be on the lookout. There are going to be some changes around here in the next few days … by mid week next week for sure. I’ll fill you in later. Just wanted to give you a heads up if things started getting wonky around here. Like they weren’t already. I mean, I had to hack my HOSTS file in order to view my own frickin’ websites. But not for long … shh2

I’ll let you know what’s going on as soon as I can. ’til then … it’s a secret. G-razz2

FINALLY!!!

OMG!! I shouldn’t even be up right now. It’s after 11:30pm. But I’ve been pissed about my website ever since Saturday morning. My host had some sort of issue. Ever since then, I haven’t been able to get to my OWN websites from home. Talk about a not happy Becky … banghead censored banghead censored

I was laying in bed tonite and just couldn’t get to sleep. First I got up to check out easyPHP. I’d like to be able to test stuff without uploading to my web host. I think I’m gonna try to install that either tomorrow nite or this weekend and see if I can get things to work.

Then … I had a revelation … stormy At work, when we were testing the new server for one of our clients, we modified the hosts files on our computers so we could get to the new server. I thought … I wonder if that will help me out with my issues with my sites. So … here I am … out of bed and at the computer at 11:41pm. I found my hosts file and added in the IP for my website and WHAMO … I can actually get my websites now. Woohoo!!! dancin That still doesn’t fix the issue. I’m STILL not happy with my web host.

I mean … I asked them to move me to a different server (to try to fix the problem) at 6:41pm on June 13th. Well … it’s 11:43pm on June 15th and I have yet to get a response. I sent a new support ticket telling them not to move my account. I have other plans … devil

Now that I can get to my sites again, I’m heading to bed. Maybe I’ll get a good nite’s sleep. I’m just so happy to have my websites back. And I can get my email too.

And who’da thunk it … all I would have had to do this entire time was modify my hosts file. But that still doesn’t fix the underlying issues. I’m just happy I can blog again. G-grin

Playing Catch-Up

I’ve been meaing to post just randome stuff, but my website has been down since Saturday morning censored

I mentioned that I was going to RibFest on Wednesday to see Little Texas. I did … with Robin and a couple of her friends (Tracy and Marie). I had fun hanging out with them, but the concert disappointed me. They played a lot of their old (classic) stuff in medleys. And they played more new stuff than old (they’ve got a new CD coming out this fall). I don’t know. They’re just not what I expected. Maybe it’s because “back in the day”, they had Brady Seals drool2 and Tim Rushlow and neither are with them anymore. Dont’ get me wrong … they were still good. Just not what I was hoping.

On to Friday … the last day of the work week … party I was named “Geek of the Month” at work. Basically, it’s employee of the month, but since we’re a geeky company (web design/hosting), we have to have something geeky. I got a $10 gift certificate for Best Buy too. Hmmm … what CD do I want? G-grin

Next is Saturday. Well … you already know what happened then.

Other random stuff …

Best Funnel Cake EVER

I went to RibFest on Saturday with Lisa and Robin. We ran into Neal (or rather he ran across us) as we were eating. [I had a brisket sandwich. HUGE. And only $6! Not bad.]

After we ate, we mosied up toward the stage to grab a spot to stand. Emerson Drive was playing Saturday nite. I decided I wanted to get a funnel cake so I could have it eaten before the concert started. I HAD to have a funnel cake. I love ‘em.

A barbeque stain on my white tshirt

It’s RibFest Time!! Good food and cheap concerts. This year’s lineup …
Tonite: Little Texas
Thurs: Kansas
Fri: Styx
Sat: Emerson Drive

I’m heading out there tonite with Robin and a friend of hers. I LOVE Little Texas. And who can beat a concert for $5 $3 with a coupon? In the past, I’ve seen Trick Pony and Steve Azar. I’ll be going out Saturday too. I’ve never seen Emerson Drive and have always wanted to.

And the FOOD. Who can beat BBQ? And yes … I am wearing a white shirt. I should probably change. But I’ll be careful. I don’t want ribs anyways. I always get a brisket sandwich. Nummy … drool2 And I can’t forget a funnel cake. They might be a bit spendy … but they’re work every penny … twocents

I’m taking my camera with too. I’ll post the pics in my photo gallery later. I’m not sure how close I’ll get. But I’ve got zoom … G-grin

I’ve still got an hour before Robin gets here. Even tho I’m eating there, I think I’m gonna eat a small bowl of salad now. I’m hungry. If I eat a little now, then I won’t spend too much tonite.

Anyone want a car?

God damn piece of shit. censored Pardon my language, but my car really pissed me off tonite. I worked ’til 6pm tonite (getting some overtime … can always use the extra money … especially now). On my way home, I happen to notice that the oil light was on. CRAP!! When I got home, I looked under the car. SHIT!! There was a small puddle of oil on the garage floor. It wasn’t there before. And I could see it dripping. So, of course, I freak out like I always do when shit like this happens. I called Dad (Daddy … HELP … LOL). He couldn’t help much since he couldn’t actually look at the car. So … I took it to Jiffy Lube. I was due for an oil change anyways. And I figured they could find where the leak was coming from. Yeah … I should’ve just went to the repair place first. Couldn’t saved some hairs from going gray. They guy at Jiffy Lube told me that the oil was leaking from the top of the engine. THAT can’t be good. And when the car was running, it was just spurting out. I had a regular ol’ geyser under the hood.

They suggested I didn’t drive it. Thank goodness for AAA.

I called the repair place that is right by my apartment … once I FINALLY found it in the phone book. Damned if I could remember the name. And I see it every day when I go to work and when I come home. I need to add that to my phone … just in case.

Anyways … about 10 minutes or so after I called, the tow truck showed up. And damn if the tow truck driver wasn’t a hottie. That made the experience a little better … G-grin At the repair shop, it didn’t even take him 5 minutes to diagnose the problem. The oil sending unit went out. banghead

Of course, I’m thinking … “GREAT … how much is THIS gonna cost me?” Turns out it wasn’t as bad as I thought. It was an $18 part. But then that darn labor cost factors in. All in all, it cost just over $71. Could’ve been worse … so I’m not gonna complain.

I decided to come home while they worked on my car. It’s not very far from my apartment, and I didn’t think it would take long to walk home. And it was nice out. But I didn’t get to walk. The tow truck driver drove me home … G-grin He was on his way to another tow, and since it was close, he gave me a ride. devil I won’t bother you with my evil thoughts on that … heeheehee.

I did walk back there. Only took me about 6 minutes. The guy was getting ready to call me when I got there. About 5 minutes after I got there, my car was ready to go. THANK GOODNESS!!

I REALLY hope I don’t have any more problems with my car for a while now. But if I do … I know where to take it. They guy at the repair shop did say that I should get my fuel filter replaced. I looked it up, and it has been quite a while since I did that last. Guess I’ll have to go home one of these weekends and get it done. It cost only $24 last time (in 2002). I doubt any place here would do it for that cheap. He said something else about the fuel system. I can’t remember now. But it didn’t suprise me. I’ve had a feeling that’s what the OTHER issue I’ve been having with my car was.

Arg … it’s almost 10pm. Time for bed. Me very tired. Barb was over last nite to use my computer and she didn’t leave ’til midnite … that’s 2 hours past my bedtime … LOL. And I’m wore out from this afternoon. Hell … I didn’t eat supper ’til 9pm. Thank GOODNESS tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!
